Build your national capital, in Karratha
May 25, 2017
The National Capital Authority’s educational travelling exhibition Brick by Brick: Build Your Own Capital has arrived at its next destination in Western Australia, the Karratha Public Library.
Brick by Brick is a hands-on educational exhibition that includes 30,000 LEGO bricks and construction sheets that allows children and adults to create replicas of their favourite buildings in their National Capital, Canberra.
The exhibition was opened today by the Federal Member for Durack, Melissa Price at the Karratha Public Library.
“This exhibition connects Canberra to the people of Karratha, and lets them explore the National Capital, its history and significance and have fun recreating iconic buildings like the Australian War Memorial and Parliament House out of LEGO,” said Melissa Price.
The Minister for Local Government and Territories, Fiona Nash said “Canberra is where decisions are made, memories are stored and the future of our nation planned.”
“Brick by Brick is a family activity that encourages everyone to discover more about Australia’s capital and explore what they would want to see in the Canberra of tomorrow,” Minister Nash said.
Karratha is the eighth Western Australian venue to host the Brick by Brick travelling exhibition.
Since Brick by Brick began its tour in Kalgoorlie in November last year, 15,000 people have visited the exhibition in Western Australia and over the next 12 months the exhibition travels to Port Headland, Broome and then Darwin.
