June 16, 2017
Member for Durack, Melissa Price has
welcomed the signing of contracts for the Geraldton Cathedral Precinct project;
a $3 million election commitment.
Ms Price said the milestone marked an
important day for Geraldton, as the town would benefit from the tourism dollars
generated by the project.
“I’m very happy to see this project
receive support as it will contribute to tourism growth in the city and support
local jobs and industry” Ms Price said.
“Tourism is a real growth industry not
just for the Mid West, but for all the five regions of Durack, and anything
that encourages the tourism sector is something I fully support.
“The Cathedral is an architectural
achievement and has national heritage significance, and enjoys about 20,000
tourist visits a year.
“I fully endorse the funding being
committed by the Federal Government, and I welcome the opportunity to encourage
more visitors to the region.
“I’m proud to have won funding for this
important project for my local community and am proud to be seeing it through
to fruition” Ms Price said.
While the Coalition is investing in the
project, the Diocese is managing the delivery of this project.
