$20,000 for the West Midlands Regional Brand initiative
October 12, 2017
Member for Durack Melissa Price Today announced $20,000 in funding for the West Midlands Group Incorporated, a marketing group set up to establish a regional brand for the West Midlands Region.
“By establishing a strong regional brand, primary producers can increase demand and awareness for their products produced in the region, which is important to growing agriculture in the region” Ms Price said.
“There is a large range of food products produced in the West Midlands region, ranging from Lamb, organic beef, olives, potatoes, citrus, camels milk and vegetables and all of which have the potential to be regionally branded toward consumption trends domestically and internationally.
“Just look at the success a region like Margaret River or the Swan Valley has had at establishing an internationally recognisable primary producing region, and you understand the need for our producers further up the coast to start the initial work for establishing a brand of their own.
“It will take time, years in fact, to establish a brand, but once we do, we can expect higher demand for the products grown in the region, and more jobs for the West Midlands” Ms Price said.
The project will have two major outputs, the first being the development of a brand equity analysis which will review existing research and strategic plans and conduct stakeholder consultation to identify the existing brand equity of agrifood in the region.
This analysis will guide the next output of the project which will develop a unique brand position for the region and an external value proposition. This includes developing the brand values and personality to guide a marketing strategy
