October 12, 2017
Federal Member for Durack Melissa Price today announced $32,100 in funding for the business case for the proposed Kandiwal Community Learning Centre in Kununurra.
“I am incredibly pleased to have been able to provide funding for this project, as the development of a community learning centre has been identified as a real priority in town” Ms Price said.
“The core output of this project will be the development of a strategic business case for the proposed Community Learning Centre.
“The Plan will be used to secure funding and support from a range of potential project partners, in addition to guiding the development of the Centre through a structured and pragmatic approach” Ms Price said.
Other key project outputs include:
- Completion of design elements for the Centre based on a needs analysis and assessment
- Development of a 'project prospectus' that targets potential funding partners and supporting organisations.
- The ultimate output of this project is the development of a dedicated Community Learning Centre that will enhance the ability for Community members to take advantage of employment and enterprise opportunities in their Community.
Furthermore, the project enables Community members to remain on their traditional lands and retain their 'sense of place' in terms of cultural identity and heritage.
