Broome is set to benefit from a grant of over $5 million following the announcement that the Broome Golf Club will receive funding under the Building Better Regions Fund – Infrastructure Projects stream.
Federal Member for Durack Melissa Price said the project to help redevelop the club house facilities and establish a restaurant café to provide more attractive amenities and increase patronage of the club was a significant investment in building a stronger tourism industry and driving jobs for the long term.
“This is a fantastic outcome for the Broome community, with the project receiving $5,115,645 to upgrade the club,” she said.
Manager of the Broome Golf Club and pro golfer Bill Minns expressed his jubilation and appreciation at the BBR funding saying he was lost for words.
“It’s amazing; it’s been 10 years of trying to get something built, it’s amazing it’s actually happened,” he said.
“It will help put Broome back on the map and be a kick start for many things, and fantastic for tourism.”
The funding is part of the Federal Government’s $641 million BBRF program.
