Energy efficient grants available for Durack in Federal Government Climate Solutions Package

Federal Member for Durack and Minister for the Environment Melissa Price recognises the need to address climate change and protect our local environment, while at the same time growing our economy and keeping energy prices down.

“The Federal Government recently announced a $3.5 billion Climate Solutions Package, which will make sure that we reach our climate targets, while maintaining a strong economy that delivers jobs and opportunities for the next generation,” Minister Price said.

The Climate Solutions Package will invest $2 billion toward initiatives that reduce greenhouse emissions across the economy, giving Durack farmers, small businesses and indigenous communities the chance to improve the local environment.

“The fund will support businesses and community groups to improve their energy efficiency, reduce emissions and lower their power bills,” said Minister Price.

“It will help achieve cleaner and greener communities by supporting local community groups to deliver projects to protect and care for local environments.”

There are three grants available to Durack constituents:

  • Energy Efficient Communities Program – Small Business Grants: This program is for small businesses throughout the electorate of Durack to apply for funding for up to $25,000 to increase their energy efficiency, for example through the replacement of appliances or the installation of energy efficient systems.
  • Energy Efficient Communities Program – Solar Communities Grants: This program is for community groups who wish to lower their electricity bills and increase their energy efficiency by installing solar and/or battery systems. The grant is capped at $12,500.
  • Communities Environment Program: This program is for community groups who wish to undertake any project to benefit the environment and seek funding between $2,500 and $20,000. Examples could include a community garden, a recycling program, or a feral animal eradication program.
