Santa delivers for Durack Schools
December 18, 2019
As the Federal Member for Durack, I am thrilled to confirm that as another busy school year concludes for teachers, parents and students, there is new funding confirmed from the Morrison Government for Durack schools next year.
“Students and teachers thrive when their schools have modern and up-to-date facilities – that’s why the Morrison Government is proud of the Capital Grants Program (CGP). Four Durack schools have received almost $5.5 million dollars in the latest round of the CGP,” Ms Price said.
“Broome’s Sacred Heart School will benefit from the demolition of an old general learning area, and construction of a multipurpose general learning area while students and staff at Geraldton Grammar School will benefit from a grant of $1,500 000 for the construction of a sports hall containing two double courts, storage rooms, plus two general learning areas,” Minister Price said.
The CGP Program provides funding for non-government school communities to assist non-government primary and secondary schools to improve capital infrastructure where they otherwise may not have access to sufficient capital resources.

The Federal Member for Durack would also like to congratulate 13 schools who this week received a total of $220 000 in grants through the Morrison Government’s Local Schools Community Fund.
“The Coalition Government recognises the important role that schools play in our community and that’s why we’re funding small projects that will make a big difference at our local schools,” Ms Price said
“I congratulate the 13 successful school communities in Durack which include funding for projects like a playground improvement project at the Beacon Primary School to a new basketball court at Geraldton’s Leaning Tree Steiner School.” Ms Price said.
Schools nominated projects they identified as a priority and the Coalition Government stepped up with funding support through the Coalition Government’s $30.2 million Local Schools Community Fund.
