Airstrip to receive $200k renovation
February 16, 2017
A remote Kimberley airstrip will be given a $200,000 facelift, thanks to a Federal Government investment.
Upgrades to the Fitzroy Crossing airstrip will include the replacement of the existing runway, taxiway, apron lighting and illuminated wind indicators.
The renovations are being funded through the Remote Airstrip Upgrade Programme.
Federal Member for Durack Melissa Price said people living in Fitzroy Crossing would benefit from improved access to basic services and essential deliveries such as food, medicine and mail.
Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Darren Chester said the funding was part of the Australian Government's announcement in the 2015-16 Budget of $33.7 million over four years to fund upgrades for remote community airstrips across Australia.
