What the Papers Say

Books and posters to educate on war efforts

Pilbara schools have received books and posters to commemorate Anzac Day and educate students on Australia's wartime history.

Member for Durack Melissa Price said schools in Durack had received two books and two posters.

"It is important that every generation understands the costs and impacts of war, both on the battlefield and at home," Ms Price said.

"As we commemorate the Anzac centenary 2014-18, these materials will help our school-aged children develop an appreciation of the service and sacrifice of all those who have served in defence of our nation over the past 100 years, and those who continue to serve today."

The two books explore the stories of individuals who saved lives and influenced the outcomes of battles, while the two posters aim to encourage reflection and discussion of two different, but important, events in Australia's wartime history.

The resources will also be distributed to libraries, ex-service organisations, aged care facilities, hospitals, local councils, and the Department of Foreign Affairs.
