Reforms deliver fee relief for parents
April 5, 2017
Parents will get some muchneeded financial relief, thanks to Federal Government reforms to child care.
Member for Durack Melissa Price said the reforms would help parents finding fees and expenses associated with child care and early learning increasingly difficult.
"Our changes will inject $1.6 billion of additional investment into the system - with around one million families across the country to be better off - including many of the 4640 families in Durack who use child care and early learning services," she said.
"We're targeting support to people working the most and earning the least and it's estimated our reforms will encourage more than 230,000 families to return to the workforce or increase their involvement in paid employment."
The reforms, which will come into effect from July 2018, involve three key features: better support for people working the most and earning the least, relief from the rebate cap and downward pressure on fee increases.
