What the Papers Say

Round four of blackspot funding

MEMBERS of the public are being encouraged by local politicians to identify and nominate mobile black spots for the next round of the $220 million Mobile Black Spot Program.

Round four of the program was announced in June this year with the Federal Government investing $25 million to eliminate further mobile black spots in regional Australia.

Federal members of Parliament and local councils can make submissions on behalf of their constituents to the national mobile black spot database.

Member for Durack Melissa Price said the database is open for four weeks.

"I strongly encourage residents in Durack to contact my office as soon as possible to nominate any mobile phone black spots in our community," she said.

"This presents a real opportunity for residents to have their say on problem mobile black spots and encourage mobile operators to invest in our area through the program.

Round four will look to target medical, educational and emergency services facilities as well as residential areas."
